We enable our customers to focus on their core competencies because we shape their ideas. All we need is an initial drawing or even just a description of the problem. The rest, from concept to design, manufacturing of the required tools, prototyping, production, quality control and after-sales service – we take care of it all – quickly and reliably!
Since 1963 we have developed into the world’s largest independent supplier of tinplate and aluminum components for the aerosol, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries. We combine this with the advantages of a classic German medium-sized company: competent, solid, reliable, on time. Always close to the customer, we stamp and draw parts in Germany, Spain, USA, China and Argentina in consistently high quality by the billions. In addition, we finish the aluminum surfaces of our components using the anodizing process. This not only protects them from corrosion, but also gives them the necessary color and valuable shine. This is a level of expertise that few competitors can match.
A variety of technologies are used on the way to our high-quality products. In addition to the perfection of the individual disciplines, the interaction at the interfaces is just as essential for achieving the goal. The core technologies in production are the four manufacturing processes described below: progressive die stamping, transfer die stamping, anodizing and assembly. They are used to varying degrees at our sites around the world, depending on requirements.
Progressive Die Stamping
Progressive die stamping has always been the core know-how of Thomas GmbH. The process is suitable for the cost-efficient production of large quantities of stamped products. The output rates of a press sometimes exceed 2000 parts per minute, e.g. for mounting cups.
Transfer die stamping offers a high degree of flexibility. High drawing depths and complex product geometries can be realized with secondary forming elements. Customer requirements can also be implemented economically for smaller quantities.
Assembly means connecting our stamped products with other components. This can be, for example, a gasket that is inserted into a mounting cup. This process is also called gasketing. Often, our high-end cosmetic products are assembled from several components. The range of batch sizes of our assembly processes extends from a few thousand parts to billions.
Finished surfaces of the highest quality are a specialty of Thomas GmbH. By means of anodizing, an enormous variety of surfaces can be generated on our aluminum components. Over 400 different colors are in our portfolio.
Outstanding quality and precision are decisive factors for the success of the Thomas Group. A central pillar in this respect is the in-house toolmaking facility at the Langenselbold site. It also provides the necessary flexibility and independence to continuously improve as a leading supplier of stamping components.
