Sustainability

Extensive sustainability program launched – With ambitious goals in a whole range of projects, Thomas GmbH is making its contribution to a sustainable future. A specially initiated project management is intended to raise the potential of all employees with the common goal of continuous improvement.

We at Thomas GmbH not only want to meet the constantly increasing demands, but also to be among the pioneers of medium-sized companies in the implementation of ambitious goals. In order to live up to this claim, we have launched a broad-based sustainability offensive. In the holistic approach, it is important to us to improve both environmentally relevant and social aspects in equal measure.

A project management system introduced specifically for this purpose helps ensure that the ambitious goals are pursued in a solution-oriented manner. The individual projects can be divided into the categories “energy,” “materials,” “water & auxiliaries,” and “social responsibility”.

Social Responsibility

Energy

The projects in the area of energy are primarily concerned with reducing energy consumption and minimizing the associated CO2 emissions. We look at this aspect from a wide variety of angles and in all areas of the company. This includes, for example, the consistent use of green electricity for our manufacturing processes or a company car policy that only allows electric/hybrid vehicles, including the creation of a corresponding charging infrastructure. Other projects deal with the optimization of compressed air generation/distribution or the improvement of the lighting concept.

Material

The projects in the area of materials are primarily aimed at conserving resources. From the increased use of recycled aluminum in our products to the digitalization of work processes in the office to avoid paper, our efforts in this area extend across many areas of the company.

Water & Auxiliaries

Water and auxiliaries are considered as a separate area. Here, too, it is important to use our resources responsibly and avoid waste. An example of a project in this area is the recovery of cooling lubricants from our stamping waste.

Responsibility for the people

in the company for us means first and foremost fair, healthy, transparent and social working relationships. We are committed to reliable and binding rules, discrimination-free treatment and interactive occupational health and safety. We achieve this through well-informed personal responsibility, the promotion of participation, and caring with respect.

Responsibility for the environment

We want to live up to this commitment through resource-saving products, environmentally compatible work processes and environmentally conscious actions on the part of all employees. We are committed to resource-saving production, energy efficiency and cleanliness in all work processes, environmentally friendly investments and careful handling of water, waste and recycling.

Responsibility for business relations

concerns our dealings with customers, suppliers, service providers, authorities and our owners. We are committed to the effectiveness of our values of high performance, reliability, responsibility, teamwork and commitment in all companies of the Thomas Group. We achieve this through the binding nature of our compliance system, uniform quality standards in the Group, innovative and at the same time company-preserving business practices.

Public responsibility

extends beyond the stakeholders. Here we are committed to exemplary business ethics,to our role as a stable partner in the region, and in the future also to charity projects. CSR audit is the control instrument and benchmark we use to review and advance our responsibility.
